Step 1. Identify your current phone setup

  • Mobile phone (US carrier) – e.g., Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.
  • Traditional landline / cable “digital voice” line – e.g., Comcast/Xfinity, Spectrum, Frontier.
  • Cloud/VoIP number – Google Voice, OpenPhone, Dialpad, RingCentral, Zoom Phone, etc.
Keep that in mind and jump to the matching section.

Step 2A. Forwarding from a U.S. mobile carrier

Dial the activation code from the device that owns the number, immediately followed by your new AI Receptionist number, then press Call.
For example, if your carrier is Verizon, here’s how you’d do it, if your AI Receptionist’s Phone Number is 555-123-4567: *72 555-123-4567 → wait for confirmation tone → hang up.

Step 2B. Forwarding a US landline (including Comcast, Spectrum, Frontier, etc.)

  1. Pick up the handset, wait for dial-tone.
  2. Dial *72. Wait for the second dial-tone or a confirmation beep.
  3. Enter your AI Receptionist number + # (e.g., 555-123-4567#).
  4. Wait for confirmation tones or the line to ring once, then hang up.
  5. To disable: Dial *73

Quick “Uh-oh, turn it off!” cheatsheet

  • Landline & most carriers: *73
  • Verizon: *73
  • US cellular / Boost: *720
  • Cricket: *730
  • T-Mobile / MVNOs: ##21#
  • Google Fi / VoIP apps: toggle off in the same menu you enabled it.

Step 3. Verify + celebrate! 🥳

Call your original number once more. If you hear Central’s greeting, you’re done!  If not, double-check:
  • You included the area code (and “1” for US long-distance if required).
  • No typos in the destination number.
  • Forwarding tone/confirmation actually played.
